Eosinophilic Granuloma?

Yesterday i saw that Tylah's lower lip was a bit red and swollen, so i Googled and i think it may be Eosinophilic Granuloma.

I'm going to book him into the vets for Sat. I'm hoping all they give is a steroid injection, and not go for a biopsy.

He wasn't playing ball with the camera, but here's a photo of it.

Good luck--I hope it's nothing serious.

Re: Eosinophilic Granuloma?

He's just came back from the vet. Vet thinks the lip is nothing to worry about (guess he doesn't use google to diagnose) They took some blood to do an allergy test (£170) he's got a bandaged arm where they took the blood and a baldy neck where they first tried.

Have to email them all the foods he eats. I bet this lot isn't on their lists. Should have the allergy results in 10 days.

Re: Eosinophilic Granuloma?

You did the right thing, by taking him to the vets. And food allergies do cause cats to get sore mouths, faces and ears. It IS the most likely cause.

My cat had what I thought and also the vet THOUGHT, was e.granuloma on his some of his toes and paw pads due to some allergies he has. But after much testing and eventually (after me pushing) the vets took a biopsy of one of the paws.

It was "plasma cell pododermatitis" (very rare). The vet previously thought it was EG and prescribed all the wrong things like steriods etc.

When really a course of doxycycline cured the pododermatitis in my cat, once properly diagnosed.

But he was left with health problems he is still living with today due to taking so long to diagnose (in excess of 10 vets visits).

In vets defense, health problems can be hard to diagnose, cats can't say where it hurts and how they feel. Its a matter of elimination.

I wish you and your Kitty luck. Keep off google, lol. It will give you nightmares and have you thinking your cat is at deaths door! x
