My wee cat has a tumour :(
Found out yesterday, my wee cat has cancer. she is getting the lump removed next week and they will send it for a biopsy, then decide from there wht further treatment is needed. Does anyone have any idea, how long she will have a happy healthy life for once its removed? I know the chances are high that the tumour will regrow. I am going to get it removed to assess how bad the cancer is, she is only 8 and a half and is such a happy wee cat full of life and in no pain, but is it only going to be weeks or months before we start to see her going downhill Thanks in advance x

Re: My wee cat has a tumour :(
Here is my story with my little jess who had cancer she was only six - Bowel Cancer
I chose not to have the operation and she lasted around 3 months after I was told she had cancer. Funny enough the cat down the road had the same thing but he was ten, he did have the operation and chemo and passed away in the same amount of time as Jess. I am so glad I didn't put her through the operation and allowed her to live her life to the fullest in the reminder of the time she had left. Two weeks before the end signs were starting to show, she was being sick a couple of times a day. But she didn't suffer she quickly declined within hrs and I knew it was time. Even if she had the operation the vets told me could give her weeks or if she was lucky a year or more. Speak to your vet and get all the facts before you decide on the operation. It's never easy to decide what to do and every cat and types of cancer are different. |

Re: My wee cat has a tumour :(
Awww thats such a sad story its awful when our wee pets arent well. We are being advised to have the op as the vet has said it could all be contained there and it could be a benign lump. I asked whether he thought it was worth putting her through it and he said yes and not to panic just yet as she isnt in any pain still eating and drink and she is a young cat. Once the biopsy is done we will know the extent of her cancer and decide what is the best treatment for abbey then. Thank you all for replying xx
