Question Male neuter - is it meant to look different?

This is probably a really stupid-sounding question, but anyway...

Monty was neutered almost 2 weeks ago (as was Dinah) but I was inspecting his bits, or lack thereof, last night, and it doesn't look that different to before he was neutered.

There is still a round "lump" there between his bum and his willy and I don't know if it really looks that different. It feels a bit harder than his soft little balls felt (yes I did touch them once... does that make me sound weird?) but apart from that, that area is the same size as it was before.

Did he just have very small balls or am I missing something here? Maybe it's just scar tissue?

Sorry this made me laugh,

if he is only little he will still look the same for a while, but as he grows, his bits won't if you see what i mean.

I am sure it will all look good in the end (did i really just say that)

It is very hard to notice any difference in a neutered male cat and only one dissolving suture is put in (which isn't visable either.

Dogs are castrated, but cats are neutered. Their little pom pom lumps remain, but are empty. I hope this helps.

Oh that makes sense! I expected the entire "area" to be removed, to be honest, and was surprised when the "little pom pom lumps" as you so delicately put it were still there.

There is definitely some sort of change in his "area" but it's hardly noticeable, especially now it's healing and looking less pink.

I just re-read my thread and can't believe I have posted on the internet that I touched my cat's testicles.

When Monty was castrated recently the vet did comment that the sacs would actually be swollen for a time after surgery but that this would diminish over time.
pom poms! Love it!

Yes, male neutered cats are allowed to keep their little pom pom lumps! Don't worry, all sounds normal to me. A male neuter is rarely "noticeable", if ever.

You are just a cat perv, admit it. You just wanted an excuse to touch them

I think pom poms is a great term for it! I have to say I have always thought Monty's were really teeny tiny. Oh well, as long as he can't use them to get his sister pregnant, I don't really care what they look like! Just glad they've been "emptied" even if they haven't been removed completely!

What a thread...
