Poop stuck to cats bum!

Okay, firstly apologies for the topic I just wanted to get some peoples opinions. For the past 7-8 days my cat has had a small piece of dried pood stuck to her bum. It is about the same size as a grain of cooked rice and is sort of half in and half out of her bum. The problem is it seems as though it's like fused to her skin. I have tried a couple of times to removed it much to her disgust, it won't wipe away I have tried softening it with a damp cloth but to no avail.

I go on holiday tonight for a fortnight, do you think I should make a concerted effort to remove it but risk possibly damaging her skin or should I just leave it in the expectation it will come away of it's own accord? I have family stopping round to look after her but they aren't really experienced with cats so would like to know it's okay when I leave.

Oh just to add that she hasn't acted at all constipated and has pooped regularly and properly since it's been there so I don't think there's a problem in thjat respect, she does try and groom it away sometimes but it doesn't appear to be bothering her.

Are you sure it is deffo poo and not a worm?

If you have a wet wipe, try to remove it with that, as that will soften it a little - if it is actually protruding from her anus and will not dislodge you might have to get the vet to deal with it, poor thing !

Re: Poop stuck to cats bum!

Tinks has on occasion had the same thing. I found what works is to spritz her bottom hole with a squirter on the mist setting. It seems to soften it up and she then grooms it away herself.

Hehe, I can imagine how well that goes down. Good idea though, i'm going to try soaking it one last time before I leave. If that doesn't work I'll ask my sister in law to give it a spray a couple of times a day see if that helps her shift it.

Cheers

Great post Hobbs. I agree! I can just imagine you sunning yourself on a beach (or whatever it is you'll be doing) and worrying about a little piece of poo stuck on your cat.

Have a fab time!

She actually doesn't mind it Strange cat she is. The trick is to leave her wet though, so she feels compelled to groom her wet bottom
