We use Stronghold if our cats get fleas, and we only ever have to treat them once to clear any infestation completely.

Yes, I see that Advocate is available in two doses, just like Stronghold.
Stronghold:
≤ 2.5 kg - 1 tube of Stronghold 15 mg (Rose coloured top)
2.6 – 7.5 kg - 1 tube of Stronghold 45 mg (Blue coloured top)
Advovate:
up to 4 kg - kittens and small cats
10 - 10 kg - the ... BIG guys
They seem to treat the same types of heart worms and intestinal worms, beside flees or ear mites.

Avocate is manufactured by Bayer, and Stronghold is by Pfizer. Both of them are very good producers.

I don't use the "dewormer" too often, because I don't let my cats outside, I live in a block of flats and it's a risk for them here to let them on their own. But I deworm them before vaccinations, no matter what. And also, if any stange idea strikes me concerning worms, I prefer to test their feaces three times before I decide (usually not to) provide them chemicals.

Thanks, I had no idea Advocate is also for cats, I only knew it was for dogs. Always great to learn more, I might just use Advocate next time, for a change.

Smile Re: Flea Advice

bob martin is absolutely useless and i highly recommend frontline, i have 2 cats and swear by it, but still occasionally i need to treat the house, but what i do say is don't treat them with any spot on flea product and use a flea collar at the same time as it is most deffinately an overdose!!!

Re: Flea Advice

Had a problem with fleas on our 3 cats recently, for the first time. Had been using Frontline, but it didn't seem to be working. Cats went to cattery while we were away over Christmas and cattery owner advised treatment with Stronghold or Advocate as Frontline no longer works. It appears Frontline over the counter is a weaker formula. Saw the vet today and they said Frontline Combo is OK (only available at vets), but advised to use Stronghold. So all 3 cats have been 'spotted on' now with that and I'm getting the carpets and furnishings steam cleaned, but after reading other posts believe I may still need a house spray. . It sounds like we're crawling with fleas, but I've only actually seen 3 - but the breeding rates are scary!! So it's all out war to get rid of the critters!!
