Advice on weighing kittens and best type of scales

Has anyone found the ideal scales for weighing kittens?

I know that digital ones will be most accurate and easy to read.

Will the kitten actually stay in the bowl long enough for me to weigh him?

Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks.

Re: Advice on weighing kittens and best type of scales

Hey I use digital scales and a tub when they little and then move up to a plastic collander when they are bigger. They do try climbing out but you just balance them there and try to keep them jumping out. How old are your kittens?

Re: Advice on weighing kittens and best type of scales

These are the ones we have ... Buy Salter Chrome Add and Weigh Digital Kitchen Scale at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Kitchen scales.

If you're weighing kittens every day from birth they get used to it. We put a folded up tea towel in ours to start with when they were tiny, if you do this don't forget to tare it in first. Then as they got bigger (about 3 weeks) we stopped using the dish and tared a shoe box in instead.

It litterally takes just a couple of seconds to read the weight, if you do it when they are sleepy it's easier Even now the girls are adults we still use those scales to weigh them in the shoebox If we weigh them when they are not too sleepy we just pop then in and put a blob of cheese paste on the edge for them to feast on while we read the weight.
