How do I get him to eat his meat!!

Just bought some animoda carny for Eric as applaws is a bit expensive and isn't a complete food. He won't even try it! I've taken his dry away last night but he still won't go near it. How long is it acceptable to keep him hungry!? I'm at my wits end trying but I really want him to have wet food as well as dry.

Have you tried putting his dry food on top of the wet food, e.g. sprinkling some of the kibble onto the meat to tempt him?

Re: How do I get him to eat his meat!!

Has your cat had pate food before? If not, you are asking him to make quite a leap from shredded food, like applaws, to a pate food, like animonda. Unfortunately, cats who are only fed one food get hooked on the texture.

Have you tried mixing just a little Animonda in with the Applaws (say 10% of animonda to 90% applaws to start off with)? Yes, that will mean wastage initially but once he is eating the pate food happily, the world is your oyster.

Or try crushing up his kibble and sprinkling that on top as suggested by Bonnie.

Tried mixing and adding biscuits

He used to eat natures menu but went off that too. He barely eats his applaws, he's so fussy.

Not really sure what to do now as i'm wasting a lot of money trying out different foods and throwing them away.

Re: How do I get him to eat his meat!!

Have you tried Grau? My Sam eats Animonda Carny (currently mixed 50/50 with his old food), but he's a bit half-hearted about it. However, he really enjoys the Grau Gourmet Grain Free I've started giving him (also mixed 50/50 with his old food). The other cats also tuck into the Grau with a lot of enthusiasm, so there's obviously something appealing about it. It might be a better introduction to pate style food.
