Re: Cleaning kitten food dishes

The cats do have their own bowls, but I've never thought twice about washing everything up together. Don't have a dishwasher so it all gets done by hand, but I don't leave them till last, to be honest they're usually first and my own stuff gets washed in the same water - what's the point in doing them seperately?
You are washing up - the clue is in the name!

Same goes for all the animals I've ever kept (dogs, rodents, etc) and its not made me ill so far. Hell, my pets get hugged and kissed, they sleep on the bed, I clean up thier poo / wee / puke / etc, and I've even tried one or two of the foods I've given them. Washing up bowls is the least of my concerns!

Don't lie. You don't wash ANYTHING, including yourself!

But yeah, all mine either go in the dishwasher or are done by hand if the dishwasher isnt full and I need them. Can't think of a reason not to really! If its safe for me to eat off I'm sure its okay for them to eat off, and chopping boards that have had raw meat on etc go in there and, I'm still alive-ish!

Re: Cleaning kitten food dishes

I wash ours separately in the bathroom sink but that's purely because our sink is always full of our own cr@p!

I first posted this question back on 1st September.

Your very late reply seems to have revived this post.

Re: Cleaning kitten food dishes

Frankie's bowls and plates go in the dishwasher with the rest of the dishes etc.

He has his own bowls/plates

Re: Cleaning kitten food dishes

I love my cats, I kiss them but I wouldn't wash their bowls together with my stuff. The reason is that from time to time I find some cat hairs in cats' dishes and I don't want to transfer the hair to my dishes. No problem, I rinse and wash up cats' plates in the bathroom.
I would never put a spoon or fork that had fallen on the floor into the dish washer without rinsing it.
I think there is no harm in putting cats' bowls in a dish washer together with your plates, it's a psychological problem for some of us.
