Male cats spraying?

I posted this in the cat chat but thought people in here might be able to help. Spencer came out before but Benny chased him up the hall and I think he's sprayed on the carpet. There's a wet patch which stinks like smelly cheese, I sprayed it with carpet stuff and then realised it was bigger than I thought. Because my carpet is grey I couldn't tell if a bit was wet or just a shadow or something so I put my hand on it and my hand stunk like a vinegar smell?

Re: Male cats spraying?

I believe spraying is usually on a vertical surface such as a wall etc, not usually just a puddle on the floor.

is there any possibility he might have a UTI or just not using his litter box for some reason?

Re: Male cats spraying?

He uses the litter box. I'm thinking it was because Benny chased him up the hall and he felt threatened? It really doesn't smell like pee? I heard him really hiss and then he came back down but Benny stopped to sniff whatever it was....

Re: Male cats spraying?

Just saw Benny sniffing the door and realised where the wet bit was is right next to the door so maybe he tried to spray on the door?
