Re: Poor kitten has upset tummy!
You don't need a special kitten food! They can be fed one of the good adult wet foods.
Regarding the single source chicken-As far as I'm aware Bozita chicken, quite unlike their other flavours, is chicken only. It is also one of the foods we recommend here. I feed it to my own cats. Another one is Grau though this does have rice added which some, though not all can have a reaction to so I'd start with the Bozita, I think! Hope he's better soon and the RC Sensitivity makes a difference! |

Re: Poor kitten has upset tummy!
I don't know about the difference between Felix Kitten and Cat food, but this is great thread, A-Z of wet food for cats .
I am going to be changing my kitten to Bozita, even though she loves Science Plan (and Whiskas) - reading this thread, and all the great info on it, makes me feel that the new food will be so much better for her ![]() |

Re: Poor kitten has upset tummy!
I think Im going to jump in and try Bozita, I need one that is almost one protein which is chicken, would that be the rich in chicken one?
It says on zoo plus website that any un-opened packet should be put in fridge, am I right in saying that food should be served that room temperature not cold? If I am going to start introducing the new food, over what period should I do this? |

Re: Poor kitten has upset tummy!
Personally, I am not convinced that the Bozita tins with chicken (which I think Ianthi is referring to) is just chicken. I have a hunch that the various offals in that tin come from animals other than chicken but I could be wrong. An email to Bozita will provide the answer.
![]() Did you have a look at the link I posted in my last post re single protein foods? Granted, it is still work in progress and currently a little sparse on chicken only foods but it should give you pointers as to where to look (Herrmanns for example), which are definitely one meat only foods. There are plenty more single protein foods available, but you would have to order them from Germany (very easy). Re introduction, as per my other post too, start slowly with just adding 10% of new food to 90% old food. Feed that for a couple of days. If there are no problem, then up the amount to 20% new food to 80% old food for a couple of days. If there are no problem then add 30 or 40% etc. If at any stage there are problems then go back to the previous stage. Overall, this can take up to 2 weeks for cats who have sensitive tums. Yes, ideally the food should not be straight from the fridge to prevent stomach upsets. Last edited by hobbs2004; 02-09-2011 at 09:49 AM.. Reason: grammar arrgh |

Re: Poor kitten has upset tummy!
you are a wealth of knowledge thanks. Just slightly nervous about ordering foods from the european market, never done it before. What makes the foods from the uk different when they are specific kitten ones, compared with something like bozita which is for all cats?

Re: Poor kitten has upset tummy!
It isn't so much that UK food is different but rather that the UK is quite food poor when it comes to good quality foods (high meat content, no or very little fillers). There seem to be very few (independent) manufacturers within the UK and therefore the mainstay of the food that is easily available here is in the form of Whiskas, Felix etc.
Having said that, there are a few companies, such as lily's kitchen, nature's menu and denes but they don't make any food that is suitable for your situation. At least i don't think so. Might be worth checking out there range to see whether they combine protein sources or not. TBH, it is only through zooplus that customers in the UK have access to better quality foods that don't cost a lot either. However, the offering on zooplus in terms of single protein food is sparse and zooplus doesn't cover many of the really good German foods that are not only good quality but also affordable. Re: Poor kitten has upset tummy!
I think Bozita, is the brand I am going to give a go. Just want to double double check with the endless amount of knowledge on here that in your opinions this would be suitable for kittens?
