Exclamation Help with worming treatments please

How often should I worm my indoor cats who never go outside, only 2 use the cat run and that is very rare these days.

What wormer do you recommend? I like to use a wormer that you put on their necks as they hate the tablets, it can be a nightmare!

Also what is that treatment that works on ear mites worms fleas and all sorts? I got some from my vet once and cost me the earth, lol
Is it stronghold?

Thanks

Re: Help with worming treatments please

Mine dont go outside but like yours they do have a run so i worm them at the vets twice a year with milbemax and then in between with panacur granules.

The only exception if a queen is going to stud i worm them again a few days before with milbemax just to make sure,

i have used stronghold a couple of times but with the flea treatments i didnt like the idea of putting more chemicals on the skin.

We get alot of slugs in our run, do they carry worms?

indoor cats can be wormed 3 times a year some even two depending on diet(raw) and if you have any other animals that would be in contact with them that do go outside. you could probably get away with just using the profender twice a year with indoors with no outside contact.

Profender is the spot on wormer and you would need to order it from the vets. just let them know the weight of your cats and they can give it to you with out bringing the cats in. be sure that you use this 3 to 5 days before or after any other spot on treatment as it can agitate the skin if used together at the same time.

Stronghold covers fleas and mites as well as some worms but not all, so you will need to still use the Profender.
Advocate also covers ear mites and fleas and some worms but also you will need to use it in conjunction with a wormer.

they put so much more of the chemicals on pets when they test the products your pets will not be in any danger with the dose that's suggested for their size.

slugs can carry lungworms. its more a problem with dogs than with cats as most cats won't bother with them. though there are the occasional few.

oh and you can prevent lungworms with Advocate.

Omg lung worms, will normal wormer kill that?

i really hate slugs, i put a line of slug repellent round the cat run but some still get in. I have to watch what i use with the rabbit.

no normal wormer will not prevent or treat lungworms i believe Advocate is the only licensed preventative in the UK. but it's very rare with cats.

oh and you can put salt down when it's not rainy out and it will be just as effective and not so deadly to your cats or rabbits.
