Instead of reading through the A-Z, I think you might be better off reading this thread first: Feeding cats for beginners (and more seasoned cat owners alike)

Re: Kitten weights

To the OP, if you wanted to try a little Bozita risk free, then I'm happy to let you have some of mine. I've got a large stock in and my cats are going through the "I was just pretending to like this until you put in a bulk order" phase. However, I've got Patae which is super for kittens, and mine piled on the weight when they'd bother to eat the stuff. This way you won't have to pay a lot, and you can work out whether they like it or not.

They are quite underweight, but as someone else has said, they've been living with a huge flee and worm burden, so it's hardly surprising! I'd weigh regularly were I you, and chart their weight gains from here on in. Normal gain is 100g per week, but I can attest to the fact that normal doesn't always apply! I have a little girl who's only 800g at 9 weeks old and gained virtually nothing last week. She's still bombing around like greece lightning and perfectly happy. Underweight kittens will often gain massive amounts very quickly too, so, although I know first hand how difficult it is to do, stop worrying! Heart murmers are not a death sentence, and definitely not at this age.

Re: Kitten weights

Thanks Hobbs I will start again with that thread. I have definatley reliased that despite having cats of my I own for the last 18 years I am with these new kittens a complete an utter novice.... i think when the others were kittens (small cats) my children were also small so i suppose my time was filled with them, now they are grown up these are getting my full attention.

Carly that would be really kind of you Thank you I will of course reimburse you for all costs, they do like pate but they do go off stuff quick and really dont like anything fishy anymore How do i get my address to you?

I have an old redundant digital set of weight watcher scales lol they are accurate and weigh in grams i could also work out how many point they were if I wanted to eat them (which I often do ) I shall get a new battery and chart them from now on.

They seem a bit perkier this morning (not back to normal yet) after their jabs. But De-de has not eaten much yet Dotty ate last night and this morning. De-de is really spaced out I tried to get them to sleep on my bed last night De-de was that dozy she weed on it I felt so sorry for her she looked at me as if to say "why did you do this to me" They have only been up for 1/2 an hour and are both back to sleep.

How long do jab effect take to wear off?

Thanks all for you support it means and helps so much. x

This can depend on what vaccine the vet gave them. For example I find kittens are quite sleepy for 24 hours after Pentofel but after that they're completely back to normal. Tricat on the other hand doesn't have any such immediate effect but can subsequently lead to the odd upset tum for a couple of days.

Re: Kitten weights

Got a new battery for the scales weighed Dotty she was 690gm so either the vet got it a bit wrong he weighed her in the carrier then subtracted weight of empty carrier or she has put on 40gm today she has eaten well; today lots of small meals is working well.

DD i put in the tupperware she wiggled too much and now they wont work

They are both a bit sleepy still DD more so but have eaten well been on the tray and played some hopefully tomorrow they are back to racing about and ill be worried there going to hurt themselves

I will also purchase new scales so i can keep a check.

Advocate is on so hopefully that shall get rid of whats left

Re: Kitten weights

Hi there

Can you send private messages yet? If not, then just email me your address to carly dot contact at googlemail.com. And yes, spambots, spam is filtered at that address!

The tetrapacks come in at just over £1 each, and I'm not sure how much the postage will be as it'll depend on how many you want. I also have some High Life around somewhere too I think, and that's readily available from PaH. Just email me with what you'd like to try and I'll see what I can do!
