Fussy Cats & Going Off Of Foods

Hiya,

As mentioned before, i used to feed wet only, with chicken wings 2-3 times per week.

I fed Animonda Carny, Smilia, Bozita cans & Bozita tetrapacks, in a rotational basis.

My 4 have now all gone off all of these except the Bozita tetrapacks, and they are fussy when it comes to flavours!

I now have been forced to feed RC Babycat34 dry as a supplement as they aren't eating enough.

They like Natural Instinct minces, but only every other week, or they bore of them and won't touch them!

Does anyone else have this problem, and what do you do about it!!

I've had a cupboard full of the foods they have gone off for ages, i occasionally try again but nope, having none of it!!

Re: Fussy Cats & Going Off Of Foods

Sounds very much like my house I've even resorted to Felix before now in an effort to get food down them. Even with kittens to feed Mai Tai will often refuse something she has wolfed down the day before. She is currently happy with Bozita tetra pack chicken but no doubt will have gone off that before the pack is finished
Rosie is a nibbler - she has a few mouthfuls and then leaves it for later. She seems to have gone off raw at the moment though.
I've tried crushed dry on top, I've tried crushed treats on top but they're not interested

Re: Fussy Cats & Going Off Of Foods

I'm having a similar issue currently with my boys, they seem to have gone off their all time favourite NI mince (but they are all a bit under the weather atm). As a result I'm trying to get anything possible down their throats, so Pandora has a tendency to currently eat the kittens RC Instinctive wet and even today decided he didn't want to eat that anymore, so I resorted to giving him the kittens Hills biscuits.. Soo not the route I want to go down, but I'd rather he ate SOMETHING than nothing.

Must be something in the air at the moment, fussy fluffies!

Re: Fussy Cats & Going Off Of Foods

If my girls do this I give them a piece of dried chicken (it's dehydrated chicken) which the lovely Hobbs gets for me from Germany. It seems to work, I think while they chew on them it gets their taste buds going and they seem to eat then.

I've also found relocating their bowls works sometimes, as does pushing a few Zahnies (Zooplus) into their food so to get them they have to eat the meat

I have been wondering about trying my 2 kittens on RC wet. Could you tell me what you think about the RC Instinctive wet - what percentage of meat does it have and what age are your kittens

I'll be honest, I only used it because I had vouchers in my kitten pack that got me two free boxes - I won't buy anymore. Our kittens are currently just under 17 weeks old and they will eat it, but then again.. They'll eat anything!

RC are very hush hush about letting you know meat percentages, so I couldn't say but it also has grains and fillers in so I don't view it as a very good quality food - plus it's so expensive for so little information.

I have also got RC vouchers which were given to us - and I can exchange them for 2 free boxes of RC kitten pouches or 2 bags of dry food.

I did go on the RC website to look for what the wet food contained and, like you say, RC are very hush hush with regard to meat percentages.

Suppose I could always get the RC wet food and mix a little in with what I am giving them at the moment.

Re: Fussy Cats & Going Off Of Foods

Oscar eats everything but Wilbur has days of fussiness where he decides he doesn't like fish, or doesn't want chicken flavour. Then the next day he will wolf it down.

As long as I see him eating something and I see him putting on weight I don't bother too much. Unless both cats rejected the food (in which case I would think there was something wrong with it) I just continue with the foods I have and put it down to individual taste on a particular day.
