Re: Worried sick about Monty :-(

I know exactly what you mean about communicating with them, I just wish they'd TELL me!
Yeah, soon turned to all four - they're passing the same bug around each other so hopefully this last lot of antibiotics will sort them all out. Thanks for the well wishes, I shall pass them on to the kids

As for costs, I couldn't agree more - our seven visits have now totalled £350 in less than a month! and I was gobsmacked yesterday to realise we were charged for each individual cat in the consultation price? We've taken multiple cats before and have only ever been charged one set price, so I don't know how they work that out

Re: Worried sick about Monty :-(

Awww how stressful for you. I really hope your household is infection-free very soon! It's so worrying, isn't it?

As for vet fees, it's a necessary evil, isn't it? I hope that's the last of our vet visits tonight as the kittens enjoy it even less than we do...

As for our two, still not much interest in food, unfortunately. Never seen so much leftover food.

However they are eating small amounts. Monty quite happily ate some cooked ham yesterday and we have managed to administer his tablets by tearing off a bit of one of those soft treat sticks and wrapping it inside.

Both kittens ate a small amount of tuna last night and both had a few mouthfuls of Bozita. My main concern is that they're not getting all the nutrients they need to make a proper recovery...

Just want my hungry babies back. I think the repeat vet visits are stressing them out too and that isn't helping.

Re: Worried sick about Monty :-(

We got home yesterday to find SOME food eaten but a big pile of sick by the kitchen door. So someone had got their appetite back but wasn't able to keep the food down. Don't know who the sick belonged to though.

Fed them again as normal last night and by this morning, ALL of the food was gone and no sick.

I don't want to speak too soon but that's a really huge improvement. I couldn't believe it when I saw the empty bowls and no piles of vomit.

This morning I fed them half a small tin of GranataPet each and they actually seemed excited about the food and ran to their placemats before I had chance to leave the kitchen, so that's great news. They both sat there eating for a good few minutes. It's good news that they actually sat down to eat, rather than standing there, sniffing the food and maybe licking it, then walking off. It was lovely to see them licking their lips and grooming after eating as they haven't done that since before their ops and I was missing seeing that.

We will just have to wait and see how they are when we get home from work later...

Oh and I didn't realise how easy it would be to give them their antibiotics! The vet said to wrap the tablets in a piece of ham or something but that didn't work at all (they are masters at eating around the tablet then spitting it out) so we tried putting it in all sorts of things. Then I watched a YouTube video showing a vet administering a tablet to a cat and it's so easy to just put it at the back of their throat. Why make it so complicated!? Or do we just have extraordinarily well-behaved cats?

Very pleased with their progress now after almost a week of worry!

Dante - I hope your gang are getting better too.

Glad they finally seem to be getting better that is great news and I will keep my fingers crossed there no vom when you get home!!!

Yes you have very well behaved cats!! Alot seem to resent having their mouths opened and tablets put in so fight you like mad. Glad they seem to be little angels when it comes to administering them tho will make your life in the ensueing years alot easier xxxxx

Re: Worried sick about Monty :-(

Thank you. Oh and that's good to know that ours are well-behaved! They do struggle and don't seem to enjoy it but it's relatively painless!

We got home today to two mostly-empty bowls and no vomit. Then I witnessed both kittens doing a nice healthy poo too (aren't I lucky? ) so I'm happy with them!

Re: Worried sick about Monty :-(

Everything is back to normal now. I'm so happy.

Monty's antibiotics finished on Saturday and Dinah's yesterday. I have my two constantly-waiting-food kittens back. They have been eating everything!

So pleased!!!
