Woody update........

Well not sure what it was, whether it was the tablets, the chicken and pork, the prokolin or the yoghurt but something works!!!!

He's put on the whole of the half a kg that he lost and a tiny smidge more

He's loads happier and wandering and even been venturing into the garden (just for 5 mins to sit in the sun in the veggie patch) He still eats and drinks loads but his coat condition is improving, poop is although soft is actual sausages and in the litter tray and just twice a day now!

He's finished the tablets and not given him anymore prokolin apart from that first dose but hes still on the chicken and pork mix and the yoghurt 1 tsp 3x times a day.

So just wanted to say a big thankyou to everyone especially Ianthi who kept me calmer even though the vets were scaring the life out of me!

He really is looking much better now and its such a relief
Also my mum is recovering nicely after her op, my neice is on specialist care but they think the fluid on the babys brain is indicating a large baby as the specialist scan shows that the brain is functioning properly so its all good

Now if I can just shift this flu.......any tips for humans Ianthi?
Ianthi, Misi, Aurelia and 1 others like this.

Re: Woody update........

Great news about Woody, really glad to hear that.
Now as regards your flu......Vitamin C, lots of it! I find this one to be one of the best
Nature's Own Ltd Vitamin C Extra
as a lot of brands are not well absorbed. I would be taking 4-6 a day for a day or two alongside
Higher Nature Citricidal Liquid Concentrate 25ml CIL025 which tastes vile but really helps.
To get started I would go out today and buy a dozen pink or red grapefruits, use a basic hand juicer and drink the juice of 3/4 a day.
Oh, and if you can bear it.....a clove of raw garlic a day!
xx

Yeah I like garlic but not that much

Thanks for the advice, yeah been trying to overload on vit c, have got the soluble ones that are supposed to be really good and dont taste too bad, and only the kiddies sudofed as all the half decent adults stuff makes me sick and must admit even this one is a bit hard to keep down

If it doesn't start to feel better soon though I might be tring the garlic after all

Re: Woody update........

I'm sooo glad to hear all this! Good to hear things are looking up on all fronts!

Using the weight gain and general improved conditon as indicators-in other words he's now absorbing nutrients better-this IS definitive progress. This to my mind has essentially ruled out EPI one of the things I suspected, because he would not have responded like this without addition of enzymes to his diet.

Now, considering this dramatic response and the fact that Metronizadole is sensitive to a few bacterial and parasitic infections ie Giardia for one, which would cause the same symptoms my hunch at this stage is that one of these was the cause. Of course it's impossible to be sure in the absence of a positive stool sample!

Given his current symptoms ( increased appetite and stools ) though the Metro course may not have been enough to eradicate it completely, I would call the vet-explain the recent improvements and take it from there! Of course you may also wish to comment on the lucky escape he had from being PTS! I do wonder how many patients they actually end up treating at that practice. Sound like a lazy bunch to be honest!

Regarding the humans-I usually take the easy way out and indulge in plenty of hot alcoholic drinks!! Must try what PP suggested next time though thankfully rarely ever get colds!

Hope you feel better soon.
