First Injections

Willow had her first injections today around 4 hours ago.
When I got her home she had a drink and a nibble and has been curled up asleep on my lap ever since.

My partner has just got home from work and she has gone into her carrier (which we left open for her as a safety place in case she needed it, as we only got her on Tuesday) which she hasnt done before.

Anyway, I guess I am just asking if this quietness is usual after the injections - she doesnt seem to be in any pain at all.

Re: First Injections

Hi and welcome to the forum. It is perfectly normal for kittens and adults sometimes to be a little subdued after vaccinations. As long as the symptoms are mild there is nothing to be worried about.Just keep an eye on her and if she seems to be distressed or you are worried just give your vet a ring for reassurance.Im sure all will be fine and she will be back bouncing around tomorrow.

Re: First Injections

Hi Buffie, thanks for the reply, I thought it might be normal but as a first time kitten mum I wanted to double check with the experts on here

Same here the vaccinations just seem to wipe one of mine out and make him very quiet and not himself for 24-48 hours, it's horrible watching them not be themselves but I reckon by tomorrow he'll be bouncing around again, but you may find he will be the same after the second jab and after his yearly boosters.

Re: First Injections

Well she did come out of her carrier when we had dinner, and just sat under the table at my feet instead of talking through the whole meal as she usually does.

She has gone back to sleep on a blanket on the floor instead of one of our laps or laptops!

She hasnt shown any interest in food tonight, but she does seem comfortable.

I am just glad that my vet told me today that I can get her chipped when she is speyed (so asleep) instead of having it done in 3 weeks when her 2nd set of jabs is due - poor thing - its totally taken it out of her
