Re: Collars

Thanks for your explanation

We're in St. Helens, Merseyside. They probably don't deserve to have them back if they're not prepared to go collect them. If I ever got a call like that about Bubble I'd run a marathon to get her if I had to.

Re: Collars

You should hear some of the abuse reception gets from owners when their straying dogs are brought in by the dog warden! Some people point blank refuse to pay the release fee because in their eyes the dog warden shouldn't have picked the dog up in the first place (no explanation as to why their dog was roaming the streets with no collar or tag! ). Why some people own pets is beyond me sometimes.

Sorry to hear about Bubbles. Hope she's found soon, safe and well .

Re: Collars

For many years, Merson has worn a little tartan collar with the elastic buckle. I changed this over to a safety release buckled collar 2 weeks ago. He's now lost two of them!!!!! So he is back to his elastic collar again!!!

All three of my cats have collars - even Abby who is strictly indoors. After reading about a member here, who's cat was microchipped & had a collar stating this, it went missing and despite well-meaning members of the public calling both the CPL & RSPCA to come and get the cat to scan it, both organisations refused to do so. The PF member was VERY lucky to be in the right place at the right time to be able to get her cat back.

I've also read enough stories here about indoor cats who have managed to escape and that is why Abby has hers.

As PP says, they are a neccessary evil.

However, regarding the bald spot they can create - I find this VERY useful when it comes to giving them their spot on treatments!!! Merson has a VERY thick coat and try to get to the skin is a nightmare. This little patch makes life MUCH simpler!! Every cloud and all that......

I just think it's a shame to have a noisy thing like that so close to a cats delicate ears, they can't take it off or escape the noise. Again, if indoors, a bell wouldn't have any use.

Not having a go at anyone, just my opinions and i think they are right.
It's a good job you can't hear the bell on #1 cat, Bola, new collar, it wouldn't be out of place in church on a Sunday morning. It doesn't seem to bother him, tho' I might replace it with a quieter one as besides the odd frog, he's probably just too big and clumsy to be able to catch anything else but the most suicidal prey
