Re: Vets and hairballs

Any good vet will never think you are stupid for caring about your pets enough to bring any health problems to them. I take my boys down for anything I'm worried about, and while the vet may think I'm personally a little *special* she is always thorough and full of advice and encourages me to bring them back or call if I think it's needed.

And I agree with everyone else, it might not be the next few minutes emergency but it could be in the next day or two, best to be sure.

Good luck

Especially on a bank holiday weekend. In my experience, cat emergencies are always more likely to happen on a bank holiday weekend.

Re: Vets and hairballs

Poor Pandora is like a chemical bomb at the moment, he's now on his 3rd batch of Metacam in as many weeks, Duphamox and Clavaseptin again, Cephacare then Katalax for the furry problems. Bleh... Vet said he has an upper respiratory infection, with hairballs on the side.

Schrodinger isn't as poorly but will be on the antibiotics aswell, his hairball was definitely present, vet said he felt like he was blocked up in his mid section.

Catching something off the kittens was the last thing I expected when I brought them home!

Let's hope this is the last of our share of bad luck..

Re: Vets and hairballs

Thanks both, I just hope the girls don't pick it up. Do things like this work like infections/viruses in humans? So once they've had it, they'll build up immunity to that particular strain? Have this horrible vision of it just going back round and round the cats!

ETA: Forgot to mention, Pandora was obviously feeling a little tetchy after his injections and bottom thermometer treatment, so as we were paying up, he decided to launch himself across his carrier (physically moving it a few inches!) at this poor innocent dog who clearly had looked at him the wrong way. He's normally so good at the vets, it was so out of character!

Don't worry, we laughed too.. But I don't think the dogs owner was too impressed!
