Persian eye problem

My 5 mth old persian gets a slight red/brown discharge each day but her eyes are clear and there is no mattering. We clean the fur under her eyes with a sherleys eye prduct and it is excellent. Will this happen when she is an adult and could it be that her tear ducts are pinched being a persian. We are switching her food around in case of allergy. Has anyone else got this problem with persian.

Re: Persian eye problem

Yes i had this it was a brownish liquid and stained under the eye. My persian had this all his life and all i could do was clean his eyes each day. They can suffer from tear staining and its very common. Just keep an eye that his eyes dont becomes sore or hes squinting or sticky as then he may need eye drops.

No, this is quite normal for any Persian. You do not need to use any products, so save your money!!!!! Each day you need to use boiled cooled water out of your kettle, get a cotton wool pad and dip in the warm water, use this to clean the eyes and nose area, being sure to use a different pad for each eye/nostril.

It is a proplem sometimes with our breed but is easily handled when put with our grooming routine
