Pancreatitis......

The vet is sending blood away to see if my Siamese has this. I am really stressed out with worry. She is eight and is so loving I cannot bare the thought of anything happening to her.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Re: Pancreatitis......

Sorry to hear about you poor puss, you must be very upset

I don't have any first hand experience of pancreatitis, but it has been discussed here a few times over the last few weeks and I know some other members do have direct experience of it, so will no doubt hop in! In the meantime, however, although there is no cure, it is a condition that can be managed very well with diet and / or anti-inflammatories.

Hopefully your vet will have a positive and proactive approach and your puss will soon feel a lot better.

I hope so as I have just poured myself a vodka (something I don't normally do).

Re: Pancreatitis......

Caroline- I think your vet may rule this out as much as anything else - as I mentioned in your other thread it sounded like pancreatitis as well. Dehydration can be of the symptoms. Siamese are also prone to it as well.

Pancreatitis varies in terms of severity and based on your cat's symptoms I would have thought he has a mild form if it is confirmed. I have a cat with the chronic form who even though he had a very high reading on the fPLI test is doing very well indeed.

So no need to worry. Let us know the results.

I will do that. She is staying at the vets for a while. She was there the other week for a few days and when she came home was as bright as a button and back to normal until Tuesday aft......

Re: Pancreatitis......

IF is it pancreatis then this waxing and waning of symptoms is quite normal until it's treated. Sounds as if he's in the right place where he can be monitored.

Coco always loved her food and was quite a little porker she was always feeding her furry face.

Re: Pancreatitis......

Coco came home today but has to go back to the vets on Tuesday aft. She is on Emerprid Oral 1ml twice a day. They still haven't had the blood results for her pancreas back yet.

She is still staring at her water bowl (she has had a drink from it already though) is this a ominous sign?

Re: Pancreatitis......

My Cookie had a bout of this 2 weeks ago ... was on a drip of fluids over night and has been quite happy and bubbly since .... the vet was alarmed to start with but once she knew what was happening she said the cat was fine and if she went downhill again would need fluids ... as I say at the moment she's fine but watching her like a hawk - when she stops coming on my walks with the dog then I know she's not well.

Hope your kitty gets better soon x
