it's rare with minced beef. tapeworm would be the one to worry about with beef but if you're due to worm in the next two months i wouldn't worry.

Apparently so - I have heard of lines being stopped from breeding because the kittens all had diarrhoea.

Re: Feeding Raw

Yea, it can. I know of a line stopped by a breeder because of it. Feeding raw made a huge difference to them, but the breeder was'nt going to have anymore kittens with tummy problems.
By the way Lou, I feed mine fresh raw mince as well as frozen. Not had any problems

Re: Feeding Raw

Yes I thought so. I am just thinking prehaps be careful in using him for a stud if he could prehaps pass this one. Worth thinking about. I know he is no ill but not a nice thing to pass on.

Another factor in why I neutered my bi colour girl is she had never had the best poo. Saying that now she is older her poo is normal. I didn't want to risk her passing that problem on as she had had a variety of tests and nothing was found wrong. And, as I say she is ok now. Eats normal kitten dry and cooked meats with no problems at all. Prhaps her digestive system needed mature or something.

This is what has concerned me and I am trying everything I can to clear it up because if it doesn't, I won't use him at all. Luckily, I have another stud coming in March from LousKoonz so I will still be able to breed.

Problem I have is that if he doesn't clear up, what do I do then? He can't be an indoor cat because he tracks the diarrhoea everywhere. Doesn't seem fair that he would have to spend his whole life in a pen does it.

Re: Feeding Raw

One of mine makes a mess. No runny poo but is just mucky! He flicks it up the walls of the hooded tray. Or, stands it and it goes all on the carpets and window sills or what not. So I just have to clean it all up. Getting laminate soon though.

My older boys used to be messy like this but grew out of it and learned not to stand in their poo after they'd done it!

I guess an MC can get quite mucky. Is he outside now? Maybe have him neutered if you think it won't clear and if you think he will be too mucky you'll have to have him live with someone who don't work and keep on top of the mess and have a house where he can get special attention and where they will continue working on his diet etc...

Though guess you will need to weigh up the pros and cons. Do you have one of his sisters to then? How is she?

He is terrible - literally empties half of his litter tray all over the floor of his litter house. He only tends to get mucky around the really long fur by his bum and doesn't tread in it as much as he did. But he is massive so I guess it is hard for him! He is normally in an outside pen but at the moment he is living in my ensuite at night because of the fireworks so he is making plenty of mess in there!!!

He and his sister are 8 months old and really gorgeous cats so to not breed with them would be a real shame. She has had the diarrhoea in the past but is fine now although the fireworks last night gave her the runs a bit!

Funnily enough, I was sat in my ensuite with him last night trimming his hair but I think he was enjoying it a bit too much, if you know what I mean had to keep putting him down so he could 'calm down!'
