How much do your cats eat a day

and how old are they?

Mine are about 14 months and mogs and past kittenhood now really although they are still crazy. I've stopped giving them unlimited but they are still eating tons and I'm not sure if I'm feeding too much but they are both very large though. Boo is def still growing.

I feed either 2 cans of feline fayre (the 85g ones) with about 35g of fish 4 cats or 1/2 a can of animonda carny and the fish 4 cats per cat.

Is that too much or still ok. I don't want fatties but they always eat it all and just look huge rather than fat to me.

Re: How much do your cats eat a day

I would say my boys have cut back to around 200g-250g a day.

Gloworm is just over a year, Mush is just under.

Re: How much do your cats eat a day

I used to be a stickler for watching how much my boys (17 months old) ate, so up until four weeks ago (when our lives changed for the better! ) they were eating 100g NI mince each a day and a handful of Orijen biscuits.

Now it couldn't be any further from reality, truth be told.. I've kind of given up! Between having to medicate two of the cats and weaning kittens off biscuits onto wet/raw, runny bums, vomiting.. Our house at meal time is now a free for all. Today is the first day everybody has been given the same thing - and the boys turned their noses up at it, when it's the same stuff they've been eating since April

My kittens of 16 weeks eat differing amounts, Pyrrha will easily pack away something like 400-450g of food a day, Wynnie is a light eater in comparison. And as for the boys, they're currently eating whatever and whenever they like - because it's less hassle! If their weight starts to alter either way noticeably, I'll have to rethink, but for now.. They win

ETA: Mine were eating a similar amount to yours at that age and earlier, half a tin of Bozita a day each and some biscuits. I'm sure they would have happily ate more but while one was growing at a rapid pace, the other stayed quite skinny - It was only when he was moved onto the NI that he started to 'muscle up' and fill out, in a good way.

Re: How much do your cats eat a day

My boys unfortunately not in the most flattering body positions. Now Boo (the ginger and white one) has gained some weight (in June he was a skinny thing) I'm thinking of gradually reducing portion sizes but don't know if thats the right thing to do. They both seem to still be growing which is quite worrying lol.

Re: How much do your cats eat a day

Pets will put more weight on come the autumn and winter months it is as natural as night and day.

I have never given certain amounts of food to my cats and I have several, they all eat three times a day with snacks inbetween lol. If they are full they stop but I always make sure food is there I would never want them to go hungry ever by watching measurements. Just my opinion.
