Re: Grooming a fluffy cat

Do many people wash their cats? Or is this only really necessary for a cat going into a show?

Re: Grooming a fluffy cat

my two get showered 2-3 times a year, helps with their coat and I now use a zoom groom which for me works wonders having spent money on a variety of brushes, combs. The furminator we found was too harsh, like there would be nothing left and it seems to spoil the coat.

Re: Grooming a fluffy cat

I don't wash the cats (yet!) but I wipe them down every week with an anti-allergy wipe bought from P&H.

Re: Grooming a fluffy cat

A slicker is essential for exotics

A couple of combs will be useful too. I recommend metal ones.

Bristle combs are pretty much useless to be honest, as are pin brushes, they cause too much static.

Cats can be bathed as much as you like, best to get them used it to when they're young. Fluffy and long coated cats can get greasy so benefit from bathing. Use a good quality animal shampoo and rinse it thoroughly.

Towel dry then blow dry if it's not a warm day. Be careful not to burn the skin.

Also remember to clip the tips off the claws regularly
