Cat tummy problems

My youngest Siamese (8) has had a bad tummy these past couple of weeks. I took her to the vets on the 15th of August and the vet checked her out gave her two injections and said she wanted to see her on Wednesday. She was no better and they decided to keep her in. They put her on a drip (she was dehydrated as she had been vomiting) took bloods and gave her two ultrasounds, a enema and some laxatives (? fur build up in intestines/stomach aggravated stomach lining)

She was fine when she was discharged on the 19th and has been her normal self until yesterday afternoon when she started vomiting white frothy liquid. She is off her food and is not much interested in water either (we have been giving it her with a syringe).

She is looking around her and is watching what my other Siamese (17) is doing but is really not herself.

I am going to phone the vets today and make an appointment.

They are not allowed out only eat good food and have two bowls of fresh water.

I am feeling very anxious again and feel very drained as I hardly slept.

Help.

Re: Cat tummy problems

Oh dear, you must be very worried, especially after all those tests the first time round. What are you feeding?

Re: Cat tummy problems

Sorry to hear about your cat Caroline. Did the vets give any indication of what the problem was last time. Anything on bloodwork? Ultrasound. Have they ruled out pancreatitis? Of course could also be a recurring infection.

The frothiness you describe sounds like stomach acid. This can happen on an empty stomach.

Good luck with visit and hope vets get to bottom of it soon. If not then maybe a second opinion.

Re: Cat tummy problems

All the test from the vets came back OK and the ultrasounds didn't show anything untoward. She is terrible for washing her fur (especially her tummy and legs) she hasn't a rash or flea allergy I think she just likes to do it.

I think she had a fur build up and this was aggravating her stomach lining. The vet said a lot of fur came out when she had an enema. She was fine when she came out from the vets on the 19th and was her normal self but as I said yesterday aft she started vomiting up white foam.

She eats Royal Canin/Hills for furballs and Hills prescription i/d as well as roast chicken.

The last meal she ate was some of the Royal Canin (dried) and she brought it up soon after.

Re: Cat tummy problems

Now this morning she has had some diarrhoea and it is slimy with bright blood. She hasn't eaten anything recently so....

I thought yesterday she seemed brighter but today I am off to the vets with her.

So sorry to hear that. Do let us know how she gets on at the vets.
