Question Which cat litter would you recommend?

So we need to find a different litter, the one we have is fine for Miyu but the boys are a bit messier/clumsier than her and it's just not working for them.
What litter would you suggest?
Please don't suggest any clay based litters or clumping litters, I wont use those for my kittens.
The one we currently have is pellets, but it crumbles when they go toilet and it's very dusty, we had a pellet one before that was fragrant and didn't crumble(stayed in pellet form, but covered the poops properly when Miyu scraped them over onto it) I can't remember the name so does anyone recognize that description? If so could you tell me the name ^_^??
If not, which litter do you use(Id you'd recommend it)? Does it work well? What are the pros and cons?

xo

Hi,

We use Bio-catelet. It isn't dusty at all and is paper based, but leaves a lot of tracking.

Why not? Are they bad?
(Newbie question. I'll be getting my cats in a month or so and although there's loads of info on food here.. I haven't see much on litter).

I understand why not clay - but why not clumping? (I've used clumping for kittens - and they've never eaten it)

Re: Which cat litter would you recommend?

We've found clumping fab, "cats best oko plus" got a huge bag getting delivered today it's biodegradable & flushable!

Had a go at lots of different types, non clumping, cheap, expensive and we've found this one the best.

Re: Which cat litter would you recommend?

I wrote a big thread on litter a few weeks ago.

I use Cat's Best Nature Gold mixed with wood based pellet litter and find this cost effective and by far the best for low maintenance.

Clumping litter (non clay) is the best and is certainly not bad at all!!

Re: Which cat litter would you recommend?

I didn't reply to this thread before because it was asked to not suggest clumping. But I agree with holly2009 and alisondalziel. I've only used Oko Plus and I wouldn't change it.

I don't want to risk buying her clumping litter that has clay in it ne, I have adhd so it's hard for me to be 100% sure when i'm reading the back of things because it's easy for me to miss, and also a lot of products aren't direct about admitting there is clay in it, i'd rather steer clear all together, there's also that when we used clumping before it was VERY messy, it would be dusty and then when she peed it would have this cloudy puddle where the dust had mixed with the urine and not been absorbed properly. also she doesn't like the feel of it and flicks her paws a lot, I want her to be comfortable when she's going to the toilet, it can really distress them you know? not being able to cover their toileting properly can stress a cat out.

If you breathe in clay dust thats bad for you right? Apparently that can even cause cancer in humans(That is what we were warned about in art class, not to play with the dust and to clean up properly)
So imagine the affects it will have on smaller animals than us such as cats..
It would also affect you, there's other problems, breathing it in is one of them, i can't use any kind of dusty litter because of Miyu's blocked tear duct becoming irritated. Let alone clay dust.

What's the name of the wood based pellet brand you use? Which ones is it?
Does it crumble? or does it stay solid? That's the kind of litter I was asking about.. so could you name it please?

I WONT use clumping OR clay. There's no convincing me on that, we've had bad experiences with it in the past, and even more importantly Miyu doesn't like it(And she's not usually picky), I don't want to have to buy 3 different kinds of litter for my cats :\
