Is it possible for sickness in cats to be contagious?

I have no idea if there are any illnesses that could be contagious causing sickness in cats - I'm asking because, following Pyrrha's phase of sickness, Schrodinger has been off his food for about 24 hours and has just vomited about 10 minutes ago, undigested food but bile and all.

Seriously, I've never had sick cats before - This can't just be coincedence surely, that since we've got the kittens everyone's started throwing up? Pandora is also off his food, so I'm now expecting him to follow suit

I would imagine that they can get a virus type illness like we do and that it would pass from cat to cat Hope it is something that passes quickly and they are back to their usual furry selfs soon.

I'm not sure of an answer but I suppose a bug can be passed around just as it can with humans.
Hope all of them will be okay Poor kitties

It's not been the most enjoyable introductory period with the cats I have to say

I just want us to have a house of happy cats and so far it's been one problem after the other!

On another note, I noticed Schrodinger try to get a hairball out yesterday - I actually saw most of it come out of his mouth, but he obviously couldn't manage it all and swallowed it again *shudder*

Could this be a cause? We could just be having a really unlucky and unrelated couple of weeks lol..

Do they eat grass? Just a thought as mine seem to be sick most time after eating the grass and I have always understood it to have some sort of medicinal effect on their stomachs.

Yes I would imagine so, especially if it's a viral infection!

By the by... Love the name... Schrodinger. Is he only there if you happen to look for him?

Lynn, we grew some grass a month or so ago and that was the first time he brought a hairball up. If it's something he needs to get out of his system because he's 'blocked up' so to speak, I'll grow some again.

Thanks Nima lol, it's nice when people get the reference. I normally have to explain what it means

I'm sure that goes down well! They probably walk away more confused than when they first asked you "why did you call your cat Schrodinger?" it takes a while to understand that you're not actually meant to understand it . Pretty sure Schrodinger must have had something against cats or maybe he just wanted them to seem more amazing?

All joking and quantum physics/mechanics aside.. I'm going to give my obligatory spiel and say "have you taken them the vet". I feel like from the other thread you probably have.. But with both of them being ill, maybe it's time for a revisit/2nd opinion if things don't improve?
