Vaccinations....

Hi.

Just wondering on what every one thinks about vaccinations and what sort of vaccinations your cats/dogs have had.

Mine have been vaccinated (first time) for everything but leukemia.
Might have it done next time they need to go vets?

Anyway what about boosters? My cats are indoor cats and have heard alot of "vaccinations can actually be bad for them".

Are vaccination boosters a must with indoor cats?

Where do you stand with all of this?

Re: Vaccinations....

To be honest I don't think there's a right or wrong answer. It is one of those things that even the so called experts have differing views on. Most agree that it is a good idea to get the first vaccinations plus a booster a year later after that it becomes cloudy. Some argue they should then receive boosters every year, others say every 3 years and others say never again.

As for vaccination against FeLV, my own personal opinion is if they are being kept indoor without risk of encountering other cats then the risks of the vaccination outway the likely benefits. If they were outdoor cats personally I would probably get it done.
