Is there such a thing as 'normal' as far as doing No. 2 is concerned or is it like people, some go everyday and others once a week?

What food do you give yours?
How long have you had him?

Mine tend to go around once a day I think. Hard to tell with having two, but I dont think its any more than that.

Currently mine are eating NI raw mince, Darlings raw mince very occasionally, bozita, animonda carny and grau, the last three being available from zooplus.

Mine were also on RC dry food when I got them and had very loose stools, bordering on diarhea at times. One of mine I believe is intolerant to grain and so can have sloppy poos on the grau, but my other is fine.

Re: Kittens and meal times

Am a bit confused - wonder if you could elaborate a bit.

So, am getting lots of advice saying that he needs lots of nutrients, which obvioulsy he isn't getting from just shop bought cooked chicken. However, you are also saying that the Natures Menu kitten pouches is also not giving him all the nutrients which he needs.

Some people are referring to a 'complete wet food' - so what is classed as a complete wet food (can you please give some examples) and what about the NM - it does have over 70% meat - what is missing from it that classes it as not 'complete'?

Sorry for all the questions, but I just want to fully understand and do the best.

NM IS complete (I think you may have read the Natures Harvest bit) - you just aren't feeding enough of it to supply a whole days worth of nutrients - 1/2 a packet is no way enough for that. It needs to be the mainstay of his diet to give him everything he needs. Just feeding him half a packet a day is like us eating only porridge all the time and supplementing it with 3 grapes a day for vitamins. I used to feed NM a lot and found it could make the cats loose (maybe from the sugars in it etc), the chicken may help with this but you need to do it for only a very few days and cut out everything else as well. It could be either the NM or the dry making him loose or the stress of a new move. You don't need M&S ready cooked chicken either - buy normal chicken from tescos and boil it on the stove until it is cooked, use some of the water to add extra fluid to his meal. It's cheaper this way and you can guarantee no extra additives.

There are lots of complete 'good' foods - bozita, grau, smilla, hi-life, purely, NM, etc - have a look at Hobbs' sticky at the top of the section.

Re: Kittens and meal times

I definitely did read the NM as opposed to Natures Harvest ingredients from Hobbs sticky.

I think what I misunderstood was - people were saying that the kitten was not getting enough nutrients from NM - by saying this I assumed it wasn't a 'complete' wet food - what they actually meant was that the quantity I was giving was not giving enough nutrients.

So am I right in thinking that NM is a complete wet food and will give full nutrients if the right quantity is given?

Sort of a bit like if we were to only have half a bowl of cereal, we would be getting some nutrients, but not the required full amount, which a full dish of cereal would give us?

Yep exactly right - NM is complete but you need to feed enough of it to give a full days amount of nutrients etc. Hobbs' NM does say complete. Just up the quantity.

Re: Kittens and meal times

Thanks for your help Spid.

Just one final thought - cos the NM is on the rich side and does seem to make a few kittens and cats loose, well what do u think about mixing another wet food in with the NM? If you do think this is a good idea, could you give a few examples.

Absolutely fine - if you don't mind ordering off the internet try Zooplus.co.uk and try bozita (pate is better than chunks in jelly), smilla, grau, and animonda carny (she tries hard to remember what she ordered yesterday), from the supermarket or pets @home - hi-life, and purely are good.

Thank you Spid you are right, I was looking at the NHarvest bit, but yes, agreeing with the rest!
