I have just found a really good deal online! But it sounds too good to be true. Maby you guys can help me pick through it with a fine comb???

My house mate worried that if they get ill (with a continuing illness *diabetes etc*) they will refuse to pay up. Or pay full stop for any illness/injury.

Anyway i found this deal. Was wondering what you guys think of it.

AlbertRoss on here is the person to ask about this. What he doesn't know about insurance probably isn't worth knowing.

From what I can see is that 20k is the overall amount that they will pay out in a year. While other insurers have a certain amount PER condition, this one has put them all in one pot. Whether that matters or might cause a problem later on I don't know.

Also the excess of nearly £100 is quite steep. More often than not I think your visit will be below that.

And then of course there is the matter of reputation. Are they known to pay out with fuss?

Didn't you say the other day that you have your cats insured now?

I have them insured atm. But i have 14 days to cancel it. so looking for other options whilst i still can

Insurance provider is "Animal friends, feel good insurance". I have never heard of them before today.

sounds good, let me know if it turns out to be as good as it looks or if you know of any others. mine dont have any insurance atm and its worrying me

Animal Friends does it again....

Basically the policy gives an overall (lifetime) limit of £20,000 but for any condition you can only claim a maximum of £2,000 in any one year. (This is their 'Superior' policy). So, hit either a £2,000 amount in a year on one illness/injury or if you have the misfortune to have multiple incidents - each costing high amounts - you'll hit the £20,000 barrier. Either way, they stop paying you.

Looks good until you read the small print.

Have a look at Cat Insurance Compare. I'd suggest VetsMediCover might be a much better bet.

Animal friends makes a big deal out of its "charity". I believe Pet Plan actually gives more....

Animal Friends are apparently notorious for refusing to pay, according to my own vets and online reviews.

I'm with petplan, bit pricier than animalfriends, but apparently very good at paying out, took them about a week last time I claimed, no quibbles over emergency fees, no problem.

Petplan are good as are Marks and Spencers (I am hopeing so is Sainsburys as this is who I am with) I know M&S have paid out thousands to my friend recently without any quibble and have paid out for multiple animals (she went through a very expensive time a while ago as far as her animals were concerned)

my cats are all with Petplan with the exception of Ginger who is with Sainsburys. Have to say have found they are quicker even than Petplan to pay out.
