Re: new kitten weight/eating problem

well im actually german and i know that store but i dont get to go home quite often lately (train tickets are ridiculously expensive at the moment... ) so unless they deliver international its probably not much of an option until i can go there again

oh i dont feed whiskas at all, however i doubt the wet food i bought so far is any better since its just whats in the supermarket here. I have bought pate so far and always mashed it up a bit and now i bought one thats little chunks in some jelly paste, i just checked and the jelly is all gone already... lol so far it seems Pebbles doesnt like the chunks that much either, just licking all that jelly off them. Jelly (our cat... now its getting confusing lol) just sniffed at it a bit and then went back to napping
i will try the heating up tonight when they're more active again to see if that helps any

Re: new kitten weight/eating problem

Sorry, just presumed you were feeding Whiskas for some reason. Tut mir leid! Maybe it might be worth getting some Whiskas though if you haven't tried it - at the moment, something is better than nothing. Whiskas in Germany also do a range that is min 60% meat, you might be lucky and they do it in NL too. That is a pate. Yes, see what heating up does. And try to feed her little and often. Have you tried dabbing some on her nose to see whether that will stimulate her taste? Have you tried sprinkling some treats on top?

Just checked on their website. They send to Luxembourg but not NL. However, they have a few stored in Holland though they go by a different name and by all accounts don't stock the same food. But may be worth checking them out. Alternatively, I am sure that Floydspfotenladen (or is it shop?) will post to you. They have all sorts of goodies.

Re: new kitten weight/eating problem

I don't think this is a simple food issue. This needs a trip to the vet asap to rule out other problems first.

Re: new kitten weight/eating problem

Doesn't Zooplus deliver to NL? I seem to remember a certain member got hers from a zooplus out there. I may be imagining it though

Hmm boiled chicken, I bet they will like it, but I have a feeling it might be a bad idea as they may well only want that and nothing else.

I agree with Hobbs about the Whiskas though. Anything is better than nothing right now. A food change can be done once you figure out what is up with the little ones.

No, you are right; it might not just be a food issue.

Re: new kitten weight/eating problem

alright i have been weighing them both and Pebbles has gained about 20g or so (really difficult to weigh him since he never sits still) but Jelly has lost around 50g! so im taking her to the vet tonight, have to wait until 5pm for them to open damnit >_<

and ive been to a petstore today and asked them about higher meat content food and they told me since royal canine is so expensive i can be sure theres enough meat in it (4% doesnt seem like an awful lot to me... ) and the highest meat content they had was a wet food at around 60% which i was told i shouldnt feed too often if i choose it... im guessing i will look into just ordering something online :/

Re: new kitten weight/eating problem

4% is what they have to put, if you check Hobbs dry a-z it'll give you a better estimation of the meat in the dry. Dry as a whole is pretty lacking though.

The 60% can be fed as much as you want as long as it is a complete food. It is only complementary food which is limited...

50g is a substantial weight loss. Personally I wouldn't wait until tonight for an appointment

Please don't worry about the food for now. You wouldn't be wise changing it until you find out what's wrong with them anyway, as any treatment may upset their tums. Changing food after that is probably wise.

That's rubbish about not feeding a high meat content food btw ... unless as GWM say's, it's only a complementary food and not a complete one.

Re: new kitten weight/eating problem

unfortunately i cant go any earlier because they would not recieve me without an appointment unless its during their umm... open speaking hours (? not sure what to call it in english) and would probably just let me sit there until 5pm if i went now :/
