Cat doing something strange with mouth - to worry or not?

I was woken up this morning by Milo on my bed and it sounded like he was chewing something plastic, or grinding his teeth. I checked his mouth straight away but could see nothing, and he was still making the noise every so often. Then I noticed his front bottom fang was bleeding - he's coming up to 6 months so it could be teething but I wasnt sure if they lost these fangs, and it could also be that I caught his gum trying to look in his mouth. I squirted a bit of water into his mouth and he retched a little, but now he is playing, eating etc and seems fine. Im just a little concerned he has something stuck.

Im off work so will keep a close eye on him - I just wondered if anyone had any advice or had seen something similar.

Kittens lose all teeth so it could be that one is loose and annoying him.Can you see whether the other three canines are through yet.Keep an eye on him and if he starts to rub his mouth or appear in discomfort give your vet a ring for advice.Hope he is ok.

My Amy had a chattering Jaw from teething and eventually grew out of it when the new teeth came in. If you are worried take her to the vet to see if there isn't anything else wrong (thats what I did)

Re: Cat doing something strange with mouth - to worry or not?

He seems fine now - sleeping away. He has been finding naughty things to chew quite a lot lately (pegs, sandwich bag clips etc) so im concerned he's broken a bit off and got it stuck - but like I say has eaten and drank this morning and is now sleepig so I think he's OK.

We found a tooth a few weeks ago but haven't noticed anything with teething since - he seems to have all his teeth but its hard to tell if they are his baby or adult teeth!

Thankyou for the replies

You did one better than me I didnt find any of Meeko's baby teeth. He must,I assume, have swallowed them.Sometimes the new teeth come in along side the old ones so you may not notice the difference. One thing is for sure ,both sets are sharp
