Is she in season?

Not sure if this is in the right section (Sorry in advance if it's not!)

We got a 8month old female kitten last week. We were told she had been spayed. But for the last 2 days she's been meowing alot and laying on her tummy with her bum in the air, she's been rolling around the floor alot too?
She just seems really unsettled She's eating really well.

She hasn't been out AT ALL and nor will she be going out.

Re: Is she in season?

It sounds like calling behaviour and the trouble with females is that is really almost impossible to tell if they have been spayed unless you open them up
Did you get her from a rescue? They should have details of her spay on record I would think and it would be a good idea to check. As she is so young you may be able to find the line of a scar from the operation

Re: Is she in season?

I agree with Lynn (check for a spay scar) and with you (keep her indoors). Also, as Lynn says, double check with the Rescue Centre for the details of when she was spayed.

Re: Is she in season?

Like the other have said she probably hasn't been spayed or they did not spay her properly which can happen but rarely.

I would check with whoever you got it from and ask them to show you the account for the vet or paper to say that she was spayed.

Re: Is she in season?

Take her to your vet and explain the situation. Your vet should be able to tell you if she is in call anyway, but if not or she comes out of call before you take her they can shave her side to see if there is a scar from spaying.

I've a feeling she won't have been though! Was it a private rehome? I know a fair few of these private rehomes say they are spayed in order for it to look like everything has been taken care of and you're saving money.

Re: Is she in season?

She's booked in at the vets for tomorrow afternoon. After last night I think theres little doubt that shes calling (didn't get much sleep). I feel so sorry for her

She was a private rehome as our local cat shelter doesn't rehome to people with young children and dogs (we have both.) I've contacted her previous owners but I doubt I will get any sort of response. They didn't seem to care who they rehomed her to! They just dropped her off and left basically

I don't understand the point in the lying if she hasn't been spayed? I would of had her either way! If she's not been done then she defiantly will be! I'm so glad I got her. I'm so angry with them if she hasn't been done, what if we hadn't of got her? What if we let her out and she got pregnant or worse?
