Re: kitten 14weeka

How I stopped my kitten from going for our food was hissing at her and/or locking her in the spare room when we eat. Eventually she stopped going for our food.

At each feeding time are you giving her the recommended amount of food according to her weight plus bit extra for snack?

I feed my kitten Amber 3 times a day who is about 11 - 12 weeks old.

Re: kitten 14weeka

Simple.. Feed her more! Kittens should be allowed to eat as much as they want, mine get fed anywhere between 5 - 8 times a day and even then they'll normally leave the bowl if they don't fancy finishing it at the time and then go back 5 minutes later and finish it off.

Currently feeding the one three times a day because she's on Antepsin for her vomiting, and she hates me! Following me everywhere in case I'm about to feed her, poor thing lol.

Re: kitten 14weeka

my suggestion would be to simply give her more food - it's very hard to overfeed a kitten. How much are you feeding her?

Re: kitten 14weeka

wet is generally better than dry - cats would naturaly get their water intake from the food they eat, obviously dry food contains minimal water and relies on the cat drinking water separately (something they don't do naturally).

She sounds like she's eating ok - if she will eat a bit more then let her, kittens (under a year old should really be allowed to eat as much as they want).

With the scratching issue - if she does something you don't like (and want her to stop doing) then put her on the floor and say no. She will soon get the idea that the behaviour is linked to the removal of attention and will eventually stop. This does require time and patience and also needs consistency - so everybody has to react in the same way.

Re: kitten 14weeka

Do not let her into the room while you are eating, that will help to stop her from stealing your food.
She needs to be fed a good quality wet food 3 or 4 times a day perhaps with biscuits left down for her to snack on at other times. You really cannot over-feed kittens.
If she is attacking and biting you need to distract her attention elsewhere. An interactive toy like da Bird or similar will help her use up her energy and aggression
