The best way is to take her between 5 mins to 30 mins everyday and sit with her and watch her. Until she is confident enough and stays by you without you having to run after it to stop it from going out the property, thats how you know it is time to let her run free unaided. If you are very worried about her running away you should try a harness during the 5 - 30 minute exercise.

Re: kitten 14weeka
I'd say about the 12 month mark so the cat is mentally ready and psyhically able to defend itself against other cats if needed. Also they need to be neutered first.
I'd take her for a vet check for sudden aggressive behaviour problems. I'd definately not let her out until she's neutered AND she's not biting/scratching/being aggressive. (Unsupervised) Btw, what age did you get her? |

Re: kitten 14weeka
As I have already posted on another thread kittens really should not be having free outdoor access until neutered and at least 10/12 months old.If they are allowed out before this you have the risk of unwanted pregnancy ,in a young cat this could cause all kinds of problems and vets bills.Kittens under 12 months are to busy being "kittens" to see the dangers in the big wide world.

Re: kitten 14weeka
12 weeks is a good age to get a kitten, so at least you can rule out the reason for this being that she left mum too early.
I would suggest having a quick check over with the vet to rule out anything medical. Also.. Get some catnip Aurelia on here still makes cat toys with catnip in and it might help |

Re: kitten 14weeka
Feeding:
Please feed her as much as she wants to eat. Spread meals times out throughout the day, perhaps up to 6 meals a day If her bowl is empty and she starts hassling you, it could well be her telling you she is hungry.Aggression: At 12 weeks old she won't have been 'bullied' what was most likely happening is her siblings and her together were learning manners. It can be awful to watch because they do squeal and cry, but this is exactly what should happen. It's their way of telling each other when it's gone too far. I know it's really tempting to play with kittens and tickle their bellies, but playing with your hands like that is teaching her it is OK to bite and scratch. Toys like kickers are excellent for letting them bunny kick and bite instead of your hand, ankles and arms ![]() I agree with Lynn, shut the kitten out of the room when you're eating. It's the easiest solution and effective. There's no real reason to not let your kitten sleep in your bedroom If you're happy with her sleeping with you let it continue. If you decide you don't want her too you will have a week or two of crying and scratching at the door to be in to look forward to .A picture of your little lady would be lovely ![]()
