Pyrrha vomiting

It's all the poorly P's in my house this week. Typing this as I rush late to work again so excuse any typos!

Pyrrha doesn't appear to be able to keep her food down since yesterday, this was delayed throwing up to start but this morning she was sick straight after eating. I'll admit I've not paid much attention to sickness threads before but am I correct in thinking I should starve her for a period of time?

Worried because I'm not at home so passing any info onto my OH.

She is fine in herself, as energetic as ever, but having never had a vomiting cat before I'm a bit stuck on what I should be doing.

Thanks

Re: Pyrrha vomiting

Kaisa was doing this about two weeks ago. I didn't put food down overnight hoping that would help, but it didn't. Took her to vet who gave her a jab and some zitac tablets which we had to give half an hour before food. Had to starve her again for a few hours that night and see if she was ok. Luckily she was ok. Vet said though if she wasn't to get back in contact asap.

Hope the little beauty is ok soon. I'd ring the vet now given she is a little one, rather than wait and starve her first.

Agree with Cazzer,I would phone vet for advice with a view to taking her in.I would err on the cautious side especially, with a kitten.

Re: Pyrrha vomiting

It could well be a reaction to the current food she's eating so I'd stop this first.I found this once with a batch of Bozita.

Unlike dogs starving isn't really recommended for cats. I feed her something bland like chicken for the moment or switch to another food she's already had. If it continued then could be bacterial infection so a vet visit!

Edited to add - Hadn't realised P is a kitten! So yes, agree with others about being extra cautious!

Re: Pyrrha vomiting

RIGHT, following my third trip to the vets this week lol.. Pyrrha's been given a lovely concoction of drugs, Zantac, Cerenia and Duphamox followed by Antepsin which she just LOVED having me syringe down her throat.. Not It smells like Sambuca oddly enough

While we were there the vet mentioned something about a slight heart murmur.. Nothing was noticed when she was in on Tuesday for her registration check up - she said it could just be because she's feeling off and is wary/panicky that her heart would show this up and might not be an 'actual' heart murmur.. Does this sound right?

Have also learnt that she downright hates jabs.. Never had a vet hating cat before, but I think I just found one!

ETA: I'm also a bit wary that this may be a result of her eating strange smelling DAF mince, I didn't mention this to the vet because I couldn't deal with the earful I'd probably get about feeding raw.. Could this be a possible reason?

Re: Pyrrha vomiting

The boys have always refused to eat it, so I thought I was onto a winner when Pyrrha wolfed it down - She's been eating it for the last two weeks. Wynnie eats it too and she's been fine, but I wondered if it could be a possible build up of nasty bacteria seeing as she's been eating it longer and therefore it won't have shown in Wynnie yet?
Or does bad bacteria resulting in vomiting show up pretty quickly in cats? (In other words, was it a bad bag of mince.. Or is the whole lot f##ked? )

Re: Pyrrha vomiting

Oh dear, you're not having a very good week are you? Unlike your vet
Poor Pyrrha - I would suspect the mince especially if it smelt odd but I'm not sure how quickly it would go through. Perhaps with Wynnie being older she has more immunity?
I wouldn't worry too much about the 'heart murmur' - it does sound if it was stress related
