Sleepy kitten

Hi. Our little kitten Millie is 14 weeks old and had her first lot of injections on Friday, she was fine. She is normally and bundle of energy and a little rascal but today (Sunday) she is sleepy and does not want cuddles or belly rubs. She is eating a little bit and has had a few treats and does not seem to be in pain but she just keeps sitting on her own and going to sleep. She does not even want to play. Any tips on what to do please

Re: Sleepy kitten

Sometimes kittens act this way after their vaccinations. If she is eating and drinking, even if just a little then she will be ok. If you have any concerns give the vet a ring tomorrow to set your mind at rest. It is common though, mine have always been quiet after a vaccination. Try not to worry, just give her small bits of fuss. She probably just feels a little icky.

Re: Sleepy kitten

Thanks for that. First kitten we have ever had. Didn't seem right when she was not jumping everywhere and going mad. my son just tickled her belly and she played with him for a little while so that is a good sign. Will see how she is in the morning. Thanks for putting my mind at rest.

Re: Sleepy kitten

That's no worries, all kittens/cats act differently. It's alot of chemicals going into a tiny body. Like us, I had my flu shot and was ill for a week after I am sure she'll be back to causing havoc very soon!!!

Hi
Thanks for all your advice. Millie was fine this morning so think it must have been injections.
Thanks once again

Re: Sleepy kitten

Thank you all for your support. Just too let you know we took Millie to the vets tonight as she was limping quite bad and we did not know why. All the sleepiness and the bad paw was a result of an adverse reaction to the vaccine she had last Friday. The vet had seen another case like this, so he gave her a shot of painkiller and anti-inflamatory and she is as right as rain now. He is going to submit a reaction report.

Re: Sleepy kitten

this type of reaction is actually quite common, glad your vet submitted a report on it. Sounds like Millie will soon be back to normal
