She looks gorgeous even with the Elizabethan collar!!
A friend of mine had her kittens dressed with a special vest to avoid them pulling the stitches.

Re: Advice post cat spay please

Still not good news from the vets The wound is still oozing green stuff and smells She is now on Pro-kolin probiotic, Marbocyl antibiotics orally, Dermisol cream externally and has had 3 antibiotic injections in 3 days They said if not better by Saturday they might have to open her back up and investigate further My poor cat has got a ridiculous looking two piece on made out of my daughters tights along with the lamp shade thing to stop her licking the wound, and quite possibly hates me because I have to give her these bloody antibiotics and keep taking her to the vets. Thanks for the good wishes, just wish she would get better

She is being very brave about it all. Poor thing must think I have gone completely mad dressing her up. I am just crossing everything that she doesnt need re opening, I think she has been through enough. If cats could swear the air would be blue in this house!

Re: Advice post cat spay please

If she's been given antibiotics then I think you need to give them time to work. Something like 36-48 hours.

I think this is why the vet has said bring her back if she isn't better by Saturday.

Sorry to hear all this though. It sounds awful for you and awful for puss. Unfortunately once they lick wounds if you are unlucky this does have a tendency to happen.

Having said that, if you think she is getting WORSE then I wouldn't hesitate to take her back ASAP.

Re: Advice post cat spay please

Well in desperation I spoke to the breeder, who said she feels something is not right-especially since the vets gave Lana an antibiotic injection on the day of the spay, plus one monday plus one tuesday plus one yesterday plus probiotics plus antibiotics plus cream and if anything it is worse! She thought that maybe something had been left inside Lana? What are everyones thoughts please, as I need to go back to the vets tomorrow to try and get Lana better. If it means she needs reopening to get better then we will do that. Any comments welcome please x

Re: Advice post cat spay please

I'm really not sure. It's been known to happen with humans so why not pets?

Saying that though, if the vet suspected it, you'd think they'd open her up again?

I'm not sure if antibiotics on the day of speying is precautionary. To be fair, it really doesn't sound like it to me?

If you are doubting your vet, can you take her for a second opinion?
