Re: What's in your Coonie/Raggie grooming kit?
Gosh, my grooming products.
![]() Well, I have a moulting comb, a large slicker, a small slicker, a small comb, a soft brush, a pin brush, a bristle brush and a furminator that I rarely if ever use. Not to mention my nail clippers, shampoo, conditioner and chalk. |

Re: What's in your Coonie/Raggie grooming kit?
I am a dog groomer, and have a persian cat
![]() I'd recommend a slicker or two for everyday grooming, and for drying after a bath. A wide toothed comb for teasing out tangles, and a medium toothed for more general combing. A flea comb is also useful. A pair of grooming scissors for easing out tangles, or tidying up bottoms etc. A good shampoo such as Kelco or Anju, plus a bath scrunchie (the best way to bathe animals by far). Remember to dilute the shampoo well. Grooming powder can help to dry, but you don't have to use it. If you do make sure you blow dry it ALL out. Pin & bristle brushes aren't very good so i wouldn't bother with those. Nail clippers & wipes for faces and bottoms ![]()

Re: What's in your Coonie/Raggie grooming kit?
There's quite a few for greasy coats
![]() Try Technogroom Limited : Dog Grooming Supplies and Equipment - UK Laube Experts they are amazing and have the full range of Kelco products!! ![]() If you groom a little each day you will be fine. The biggest mistake people make is not grooming deep enough into the coat, make sure you're getting right to the roots. People say don't bathe too much but really it's fine, just bathe when you feel she needs freshening up. It's good for the coat, and for the skin & circulation.

Re: What's in your Coonie/Raggie grooming kit?
Each cat is different, just groom when you feel it's needed. I'd say for long haired breeds, every 3 days is a minimum.
Feel the coat with your fingers and act right away if you feel any tiny matts forming (like Dally Banjo said, under the front 'arms' is usually the 1st area to matt) ![]() It's good to start a grooming routine as early as possible, most cats grow to accept it as routine. My persian loves a good groom now, mind you he is 8 this year ![]()

Re: What's in your Coonie/Raggie grooming kit?
I'm a cat groomer and have 6 persians of my own
I use a metal comb with small/medium spaced teeth, and a slicker for my persians. They also have a bath and blow dry every couple of months to prevent knots. I use similar for my cat grooming customers, with the addition of the Mikki mat breaker for removing dead undercoat. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
