Re: Pandora has a poorly nose..

Been given another set of drugs for Pan today, same as before. Just a bit confused as I thought Metacam shouldn't be continued for longer than 4 days?

Re: Pandora has a poorly nose..

Hey my older cat Chewitts has a similar thing that happens regularly. When she was a kitten she had to stay in the vets over night and went a little bit crazy apparently in the cage. When I picked her back up I noticed she had a 'split' nose. I have taken her to the vets with it but they have never really done much about it. I now look at it as being similar to coldsores on humans as every now and then it splits again (usually when the air in the house is dry due to the heating being on) I tend to put a dab of vasaline on it as it makes her more comfortable and happier to eat as it stings when she goes to eat poor baby. I have just accepted this as something she has everynow and then. I am not 100% sure Pan's nose problem is the same as Chews as literally hers is just in the crease down the middle of the nose but it bleeds and weeps too.

ETA I have also had to give Chew more than a weeks worth of Metacam in the past for cystitis so don't worry too much about the length of time on the meds

Re: Pandora has a poorly nose..

Thanks Buffie. He's really not too bad, I didn't expect the vet to give us anymore drugs but he wanted to be on the safe side incase he manages to knock it again. I on the otherhand, don't want to be giving him Metacam if he doesn't really need it.

ETA: Thanks KFM, that's good to know
