How much to feed (roughly)

Hi, forgive me for my very newbie question. I am doing some research before I collect my cat in a month. He is 1 yr old. (Pic below). I do not know his weight yet. He is currently fed Felix/Go Cat biscuits but I am thinking of trying to gradually change him on to wet food such as Animoda or something similar (once he has settled in). I will probably be feeding him in 3 meals per day.
As a rough guide, how much would you expect to feed a cat like him in total for one day? Cans are usually around 400gm. Is he likely to eat a full one per day? If anyone can give a rough idea that would be helpful

Re: How much to feed (roughly)

A 5kg cat is given a recommended amount of 300 - 350g per day. However this is approx and can depend on the food you feed.

If I was feeding Felix or Whiskas - I would be feeding this amt from those tins because they have a very high water content and the meat content / percentage is much lower.

However, I feed Animonda, Smilla & Bozita which are VERY heavy and dense because the meat content is SO much greater so I feed mine 200g a day from the tins with water mixed in to make it easier for eating. My lot find the dense meat a wee bit hard going on their little mouths. They prefer it with 'added gravy'. I also supplement this with some raw turkey hearts; 1 or 2 a day depending on the size.

When the vet has seen him & weighed him, you can then do a calculation on how much he needs approx and then work it from that.

This is not an exact science and does come down to the quality of food that you are feeding.
