kitten food!

So, I have just got my kittens off dry Whiskas kitten and on to the Applaws complete kitten food, which I am hoping will be better for them. They currently also have a pouch of Whiskas wet every evening as I don't really like the idea of them just having dry (I'D get bored!) really i'd like to get them a different wet food but struggling with the costs of the premium foods that are mentioned on here! Is there anything else out there? Want to do the best for my babies but soon I will be eating Tesco value to keep them on Applaws haha

Re: kitten food!

Good quality doesn't have to mean expensive - especially if you can buy online. Plenty of people on here, myself included, order food from Zooplus or similar sites.

Tins of Bozita, Animonda Carny and Smilla are all high meat, grain free, good stuff - without the high price tag. Smilla is particularly cheap - if your cats like it! You should also find that the higher quality wet foods like these need to be fed in smaller amounts, so any extra cost is only relative.

Buying in bulk will also save you money - and lets face it tins are unlikely to go off before you use them.

Hope that helps

Re: kitten food!

I agree with Colette. I came to this forum pretty ignorant about cat food but I found the following threads to be amazingly informative: Feeding cats for beginners (and more seasoned cat owners alike) and A-Z of wet food for cats

When I compared prices on the Zooplus website, brands like Smilla and Animonda Carny weren't any more expensive than Whiskas.

Re: kitten food!

Whiskas is just constantly on offer in tescos though hehe. Thanks for your replies, think I will order a trial pack of Smilla to see if Ben and Jerry approve! :-)
