Re: How long does a 2.5kg bag of orijen last?

I feed Orijen as a snack only (main meals are wet food) and a bag of the standard one would last nearly three months (a handful a day). Mind you, my cat eats more with Orijen than would with other brands and she eats till the last kibble.

In Zooplus they put the feeding recommendation per day. Check the size of your cat, then divide the size of the bag by the daily amount.

Re: How long does a 2.5kg bag of orijen last?

How heavy is your cat and will you be feeding just Orijen?

For an average 4kg cat fed solely on Orijen the feeding guideline is 55g per day therefore a 2.5kg bag would last approx 45 days. Obviously if being fed alongside wet food the feeding quantity would be less and it would last longer.

Re: How long does a 2.5kg bag of orijen last?

Thanks, I have 2x 10w old kittens, Im still trying to decide on the wet to feed along side, I was intending on just filling a bowl of dry a day for them to graze on and then they will get their normal 3-4 x small portions of wet (prob applaws or hilife still trying to decide) alongside, They both came fed on supermarket wet and dry and I need to wean them over. just wondering how much I will need to order of the dry to last the month.. think I will order the 2.5kg and see how we do! Currently they have tesco kitten dry to graze on and tesco kitten pouches fed 4x a day

If you are trying to get them onto wet don't try Applaws as its a treat complementary food, and they should not be eating that as any high proportion of their diet.

Just to make sure you understand, there are two types of food:

Complementary: Not to be used as a sole source of food, should only be used as a treat
Complete: Should have everything in it that your cat needs to survive, can be used as their sole source of food

When you are shopping and see a tin of cat food on the shelf it COULD easily be either Complementary or Complete. The only visible way to tell what it is your buying is that it should have either Complete or Complementary written somewhere on the tin / pouch. Sometimes it can be hard to find! That will be the only visible difference as far as I know.
