It is one of the better ones, but the gravy and jelly ones dictates that 50% of the pack is jelly/gravy, so the high meat content is limited to only half of the contents. So its good but there are better, such as the pate versions of it.

Re: Bozita - best one to buy?

If I could defend Bozita a little bit (not that I really need to, as no one has been especially negative), I think it's great. It's the cheapest food I have in rotation for my kittens, and I would say on a cost to quality ratio it's the best we can get easily over here, regardless of which type you get.

I would have thought - but I can't check as I don't have any left at the moment - that the canned pate type would be the best value for money from a nutritional perspective as, for example, the chicken variety is all chicken, I think, whereas the cartons have several meats plus egg or a small amount of vegetable in their recipe.

What can be said in favour of the tetrapack version is that it's a 2-in-1 product, a toy and a meal. Because despite all the money I've spent on catnip balls, laser pens, climbing frames and the like, my little boy's favourite thing to play with is the tear-off strip from the top of a Bozita carton! He's been at it for two hours now...

Mine happily eat the chicken and beef in tins, but will barely touch the pate Tetrapaks. In fact I may just go and open one, chuck the food and use the strip as a toy as mentioned above!

Unfortunately, as yet Bozita don't do a pure food I don't think. They are all concoctions of various meats (it is chicken based but also includes pork and beef as well as other flavour meats), some contain veggies (carrots) or eggs, some contain yeast, other sodium chloride etc. True, the tinned chicken only declares the chicken but I wonder whether the offal (lung etc) is also from chicken or from other animal sources.

Anyhow, I need to update the A-Z as the analysis has changed slightly over the past few months.

Comparing them purely on the basis of the macronutrient profile, then to me the pate tetrapaks are a clear winner

Protein 58%, Fat: 28%, Fibre 1%, Ash 10% and carbs 4% (kcal around 482/100g)

Followed by tins

Protein 56%, Fat 28%, Fibre 3%, Ash 11% and carbs 3% (kcal around 478/100g)

I prefer the pate tetrapaks because it contains slightly more protein, and slightly less ash than the tins.

Then it is a toss-up between the jelly

Protein 53%, Fat 24%, Fibre 3%, Ash 12% and carbs 9% (kcal around 456/100g)

and the gravy

Protein 47%, Fat 29%, Fibre 3%, Ash 12% and carbs 9% (kcal around 477/100g)

Anyhow, hope that helps.

Re: Bozita - best one to buy?

Thanks for updating Hobbs and the breakdown

Will try the pate next time i order although little misses didn't like Lily's kitchen cat food which was pate (cost me a bomb- although they are v nice company and lovely to speak to) Kayla likes her chunks and is a fussy eater

Actually I think that it's upto 50% jelly or gravy, it seems that in most packs it is quite a bit lower than that, I'd say around 20 - 25%, but the ground beef is probably closer to 40%. To be honest I'm not about to separate it all out and weigh it, but I'm confident that 50% is a bit high based on what comes out of the packs.

Dynamo is on Carny poultry cocktail and chicken and rabbit. He loves them.

He also loves Schesi R with Tuna - but it doesn't love him and he gets a squitty bum with it, pity really
