Persian Cat is Vomiting & Other Things

Hi, my beautiful Persian cat is sometimes vomiting after food. I say beautiful, a lot of people think she's ugly because she has one tooth that sticks out over her top lip, and her tongue is too long, but she's mine and a little angel. I got her from a rescue home, so don't know too much about her past. I do know when she was rescued she had to be completely shaved because her hair was matted, and she was discarded as she was unsuitable for breeding. I think she used to get fed from scraps from the fridge, as when I go near our fridge she is there at my feet begging for food. I've had her for 2 years and just put up with her behaviour, but I notice she wolfs her food down because we have 2 other cats she competes with. It's normally after her first feed of the day that she is sick, it's okay as the day goes on. I'll be taking her to the vet to get her checked over, but the last time I did this a year ago they cut her open to see if an intestine was twisted, but nothing was wrong and I was £300 down. A price worth paying for a peace of mind. Anyway, can anyone please suggest what I can do to alter her behaviour - do I feed her in a room separate from the other cats so she takes her time eating? How often should I feed all 3? It's difficult because my Persian and another one are dominant over a British Short Hair I have, so I end up putting out 3 or 4 packets of food to make sure the Short Hair gets fed - this is also costing a lot of money in food!!! Any advice on my Persian and how to regulate the times they all get fed would be appreciated.

Feed them in different rooms.

May also be the food like some kind of intolerance? Try a hypo allergenic food loads around.

Re: Persian Cat is Vomiting & Other Things

It defintely sounds as if her vomiting is due to her bolting down food. So I would definitely feed her separately. Also in view of her dental problems I'd mash up her food.

Owing to my lifestyle, I feed mine smaller portions now about four/five times a day which is preferable I believe to larger ones less frequently.
