Although I guess if the kitten isn't healthy they might just pts him/her, particularly if they are living in an area that is overrun with cats/kittens (but where isn't given the current economic climate in most places)

Its one of those things isnt it. Its not a nice thought but, honestly I'd rather have a kitten pts humanely than suffering until the end

I'm so sorry to hear that. Now you know why everyone was so frantic about getting her to the vet. Kittens can decline insanely fast--from seemingly fine to near death in an hour or so. It seems impossible, but they are quite fragile little creatures.

RIP little one--run free at the bridge

Re: My kitten is super sick... :(

In this cruel world, as we all know, ALOT of people couldnt give a s**t about their own children, nevermind animals so even though you should have brought the kitten to the vet straight away, at least you cared enough to want to help and the wee kitten didnt die alone and also you did seek advice, for that good job, i am sorry you couldnt save her many many cats are on the street and die alone, hungry and afraid.

If she does live in america, trust me, its not as easy as "Oh here vet, i cant have this kitten anymore, you take her!" as most animal shelters are over-run there with dogs and cats....its not the same as in the UK at all. More than likely the cat would have been put to sleep there and then ( sick or not ) or placed in a shelter where every thursday they reduce the over-crowding....i think you know what i mean by that. When i lived in america, i was just down the road from one and hated thursdays as you could smell the burning

Dont beat yourself up, you tried x

I second this. I'm constantly amazed by the number of rescues available in the UK and the care and attention in them. There are a lot of kill shelters here (although last time I said something of the sort, although I live in America, I got blasted by another American for making generalizations, so whatever). There is limited space and while most of them do what they can, they have to do what they can do. I think it's worse for dogs, simply because they take up more space, eat more resources, and are probably more complicated to rehome). Sick animals will be pts if there isn't enough time or space to help them. And while we try to tell everyone we're the richest country in the world, our health care for humans and animals is often wanting in many ways.
