Merlin has a fever and isnīt on speaking terms with me

After observing that Merlin has been having watery eyes and runny stools from time to time, he was taken to the vet today. I coudnīt go because of work but my aunt took him. He has a fever so he has been put on antibiotics and has to have eye drops administered twice a day to him 8he always closes his eyes for this and moves backwards). He came back very quiet from the experience and has lost most of his voice (I know he is terrified of going to the vet). Hasnīt touched his food and is keeping a safe distance from me. I hope cats have short memories

Ach poor little mite. Hope he feels loads better soon.

I find that a little play with the da bird/mouse makes them stop sulking in no time.

Re: Merlin has a fever and isnīt on speaking terms with me

Thanks Hobbs,

He is investigating the things on the table now and this night he paid me his usual visit by 4am for me to pet him. I think every time he goes to the vet he feels he is going to be abandoned again. Still isnīt eating much and itīs horrible giving him the antibiotics, difficult to get him to open his mouth

Not going to make you feel better but a while ago I had to take my cat to the vet and he had 10 days of antibiotics. He still hides in the morning when he sees me even though he stopped them weeks ago.

Now he is showing no interest in his food, I hope it is just until he finishes with the antibiotics

The problem is that he is a very strong cat, he just shuts his jaws and itīs difficult to pry them open. Also he spits it out. and I still have 6 more days to go, he will hate me

Try wrapping him up in a towel, then put one hand over the top of his head so you have a finger & thumb on either side at the back of his jaw, then with the other hand gently poke a finger in & drop the pill in then rub his throat but keep his mouth closed. Or you could get some wafer thin ham & give him a tiny bit or two to get him interested then hide the pill in a bit of that. Or crush it up & put in in a little tuna if the pills can be crushed.

It is blinking hard with some cats I know
