Duchess is on a distinguished road
My cat is rumbling!

This may seem like a stupid question but I'd rather ask something silly than ignore it and my cat suffer!

My Dora is making a rumbling sound! It's like she has a hairball but instead of being like a dry cough its more rumbling. It's also happening as she's purring but not every time she breathes.

If I heard it on a person i'd think they either had a chest infection or they smoke 50 a day!

She's eating, drinking and playing as normal and seems fine in herself.

Could it be she has an infection? (She is an indoor cat) Or could it just be a hairball?

Sorry if I am asking a silly question but if it is something that needs to be seen to then the sooner the better! I'd hate for her to get sick and I could have done something to stop it

Re: My cat is rumbling!

Sure she isn't smoking a pack or two when she is playing in the jazz club at night?

Seriously though. If you are worried, and you obviously are - otherwise you wouldn't be posting on here- I would take her to the vet for a check-up. Might be nothing, might be an upcoming (errm, literally) furball or might be a chest infection, which is better caught earlier rather than later.

Re: My cat is rumbling!

I agree. Not sure what you mean by rumbling but if there's any sign of wheezing at all this shouldn't be ignored. Could be due to a number of things some more serious than others. Always best to get illnesses diagnosed and treated in the early stages.
