Giving cats flea treatment?

Hi, just need a bit of advice really about giving my cat flea treatments, hes nearly 2 years old and has always had treatments from spot on pipettes with no problems (obviously didn't enjoy it but he would stay still if you held him itght)

My sister moved out of our dads barn conversion in march, and me and my partner moved in, sister didn't want to take the cat with her so we decided to keep him.

Since then we've been giving him the same treatment once a month, but for the last 2 months it is impossible to give it to him, me and my partner both came out of the ordeal heavily scratched and even bleeding!

He's such a big, strong cat that hes impossible to hold down without hurting him.

Any advice on how we can still give him treatment?

we've even tried my sister giving it to him, incase it was the change of person doing it, but still no luck

The last time we gave it to him we only managed to get half a pippette on him before i had to let go as he was hurting me that much.

Advice or thoughts would be great!!1
