Toplife Chicken Dinners

Does anyone else feed these? After reading Hobbs' excellent thread about all the different foods ( Great stuff thank you Hobbs),I took myself off to Asda yesterday to get some of these. As these are my first cats I don't feel knowledgeable or brave enough to go with a raw diet but these seemed like one of the best wet foods available in the supermarket.(Will probably also order some Smila wet food at some stage based on Hobbs' thread).

My question about the Toplife Chicken Dinners is about portion size. The carton (370g) says it's 2 portions/a daily amount for one cat.Well,I ended up giving my two cats 1/2 between them last night as to have divided the full carton between them seemed an awful lot () and no way would they eat that much all at once and I don't like leaving it down for ages. I do free food dry food also. Are these recommended portion sizes big or am I being stingy with my cats?

I've not heard of these, but interested! What is the food consistency? Pate, in Jelly, in gravy?, chunks, shredded?

Re: Toplife Chicken Dinners

Looking at Hobbs post they have a high meat content of 90% but in just half of the pack due to the jelly content, so the feeding reqs look okay to me as there isnt much nutrition in the jelly so really theyd be getting just under 200g of 'meat' a day sorta thing...

How old are your boys? i tried to find out but I couldnt

Hi Shyboots, these are in Hobbs' A-Z of wet foods and all the breakdown is given there. They're chunks in jelly.

If they'll eat a pack each a day, let them have it. I wish there was a way to work out how much to feed particular cats without waste, but, there isnt lol

They're still young yet. The recommended feeding guidelines are for adult cats, kittens can and do eat more.

However, if you also feed dry (and they are eating it), it's possible you are already feeding enough. The feeding recs do not take into account you feeding another food source.
