Possible cat injury

Little bit worried here.

My cat was in a fight earlier today and when he came in he smelt like urine. Figured he got a bit excited during the fight and he was overdue for a wash anyway, so jumped in the shower with him.

A few scratches and a soaking wet bathroom later I was drying him off when I noticed a strange looking open wound about 2 inches under his butt (about where his testes were before the vet gave him the chop).

Should I be concerned about this? I've attached a few photos of the area. If it was any earlier I would take him to the vet, but it is 9PM so I don't really want to rush him off to the 24hour emergency vet (cause that'd be a lot of wages down the toilet right there) seeing as he doesn't seem to be in a huge amount of distress.

Re: Possible cat injury

It's hard to tell, but to me that looks like an open wound with bits of internal organs poking through!! If it is, you need to get your cat to a vet NOW - an emergency vet will cost you extra, but waiting may cost your cat its life.

Go NOW!!

I would be on the way to the emergency vets now.

Even if he isn't apparently agitated (but don't forget that cats can be very good at hiding pain), there is always the danger of an open wound getting infected and it causing more damage long-term.

Re: Possible cat injury

Ooh, that's a sore one. So glad you are at the vets as a couple of stitches could save your cat from getting a really bad infection, especially given where the wound is.
Good luck, keep us posted please.
